Helsinki Line Dancers organizes higher level classes of line dance to everyone interested in line dance at XXXXXXXX (XXXXXXX) every Monday at XX:XX – XX:XX.
During the evening you will learn one line dance and possibly recap the line dance of the previous class. Rest of the time is used for social dancing, meaning that requests will be played from those who attend the class. For music we use all kinds of music, meaning you will hear Country music and non-Country music (for instance, pop).
Your level for these classes needs to be experienced, as the level of the dances starts from Intermediate, sometimes being even Advanced -level choreographies.
Clothing for the course is free of choice, we recommend comfortable clothing (for instance t-shirt and pants) and comfortable shoes to dance in (shoes need to be fit for use in the interior spaces). A water bottle is also good to bring along. Black-soled shoes that leave marks on the floor are NOT allowed. The school charges us for cleaning afterwards if they need to clean our marks.
Your instructor will be Mikael Mölsä (featured in the picture), a known figure in the finnish line dance scene. Mikael has over 25 years of experience teaching line dance to various levels. Mikael’s way of teaching can be described as energetic and engaging and students enjoy his classes.
One-off payment is 7,5 euros per class. We also sell 10-time cards to those who wish to purchase such. Payment methods are MobilePay, PayPal or bank transfer. Sadly you cannot use sports benefits as a payment for the course.

Line dance is a form of dance that originated from the european ballroom dances from where it moved over to the United States where it evolved to the better-known form of dancing to Country music. To Finland line dance arrived at 1993, when at the lead of Mika Nurminen it started to spread around the country. At the turn of the millenium line dance had it’s next major change when other types of music such as latin music and irish music started gaining traction amongst the line dance community. Soon other forms of music, such as ballroom and hiphop assimilated themselves to the line dance scene.
Nowdays line dance is a melting pot of all kinds of dancing and on the floor you come across moves and patterns from other styles of dancing, such as moonwalks, batucadas, curved feathers, running mans and other patterns and moves. Musically line dance encompasses all kind of music and songs that have some sort of a logical structure of beat. A careful estimation puts the amount of line dances in the world over 200.000. The biggest website in the world, Copperknob is a home to about 165.000 stepsheets.
